P.A.C.E. Yourself!

Well, it’s here. Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. I don’t know what today holds, but I sure hope I don’t bruise my thumbnail again. I wish I could say I bruised it fighting off a vicious mountain lion attack or something noble like that. In reality, I smacked my thumb in a rat trap. Yes, it hurt, and yes, I know that was a stupid thing to do. In fact, I said to myself, “You big dummy.” That was after my vision cleared, my stomach stopped hurting, and the stars stopped spinning around in my head. I’m sure my day today will be full of snags, pitfalls, and various and sundry other traps. Your day probably will be too. So how do we face today? How can we triumph over what our day has in store? Here are four quick suggestions that are summarized in the anagram P.A.C.E. Before our feet hit the floor, we need to PRAISE God. I don’t know what today will bring for me, but I know my God is big enough, and powerful enough to triumph over whatever Today brings. Let’s start our day praising God. First, because He is worthy of our praise, and second, if we start our day praising God, we can’t help but start our day off on the right foot. Second, we need to ABIDE with God all day. The word abide means to dwell or to live with. After we start our day praising God, we need to be ready to march in step with God all throughout the day. If we don’t keep walking with God after we start the day praising Him, it won’t be long before Today swallows us up. Third, we need to let God have CONTROL. Don’t just let Jesus take the wheel. Give Him the wheel before you ever start your day! I don’t know about you, but I am sometimes prone to jump out ahead of God, and then when I find myself in a mess, ask God to fix it. What I (and you) should do is pray that God would lead us through the day and then experience our day with God in control. Maybe if we could learn to do that, we wouldn’t find ourselves in so many messes. Finally, we need to EXPECT God to show up today. If we start our day praising God, abiding in Him, and letting Him control our lives, we should live today looking for things God is doing in our lives. Expect God to show up. It might be in the people we “just happen” to meet, or in the circumstances that “just happen to work out.” So, there you have it. We can make it through today, y’all, if we will just learn to P.A.C.E. ourselves.
Be blessed and then go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
