God is Still on His Throne

In my devotion time yesterday, I read the second Psalm. As I pondered this Psalm, I let my mind return to creation: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” When this world began, God was on His throne. Make no mistake; contrary to popular opinion, God is still on His throne. It is astonishing how God’s creation tends to plot against God. Sigmund Freud thought the concept of God was a form of neurosis, stemming from unresolved childhood conflicts. Friedrich Nietzsche famously declared, "God is dead," suggesting the decline of religious belief in modern society. Karl Marx viewed religion as the "opiate of the masses," predicting that God would eventually become obsolete as society progressed, while Bertrand Russell argued that religion would diminish as science and rational thought advanced. Turns out, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Karl Marx, and Bertrand Russell are all dead, while God is still on His throne. David Hume, an atheist philosopher, cried out on his deathbed, “I am in flames.’ Anton LeVey, author of the Satanic Bible, said as he lay dying, ” Oh my, oh my, what have I done, there is something very wrong.” Notice what the Psalmist says about those who plot against Him. “Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision” (Psalm 2:1-4). Rest assured, loved ones, God is still on His throne, and He will stay there forever. Don’t let the enemies of God fool you with their “logic” and rhetoric. While their words may sound convincing, at least to their ears, in the end, their words are simply “Much ado about nothing.” We need to take the advice of the Psalmist: “Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. In other words, trust God, and keep on keeping on. Be blessed and be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
