January 5, 2020
I am sure that there are a lot of things that you would like to change in your life. Many of these things you have no control over, while many others you do. Since we can’t do anything about those things we can’t control, let’s just resolve to give those things over to God and let Him help us through. It’s those things that we DO have some control over that I want us to consider for a moment or two. Guess what y’all? It’s 2020! The New Year. Time for the New You and all that goes with him or her. Maybe you resolved to lose weight or to exercise more. Perhaps your resolutions were more noble and you resolved to read the Bible more or to improve your prayer life or just walk closer with God. No matter what your resolution might be, please remember this principle, so well stated by Andy Stanley, “If you want this time to turn out differently than last time, do something different in the meantime.” For most of us, our New Year’s resolutions last for a few days or weeks at best, then we generally go back to doing what we’ve always done and we excuse ourselves from keeping our resolutions with the classic line, “I will do better…next year”. Another well-known quote that goes along with this idea is, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got.” Do you know the definition of insanity? It is doing the same thing, the same way and expecting a different result. All of these quotes and sayings point to one fact. If 2020 is going to turn out differently than previous years, it is up to us to do something differently. We need to look within ourselves and ask if we are really serious about turning 2020 into a special year. If we are serious, then we need to ask ourselves what is keeping us from reaching our goals. Most generally, we will find out that our biggest obstacle to success is…..... well,,,US! Pogo said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” What changes do we need to make in order to achieve the results we really want to achieve?
Life change starts TODAY!
Be blessed and be a blessing… Bro. Andy
