Last Sunday, the volunteer chaplain who works with me, David Jenkins, was pumping gas in his car. As he was stepping over the gas hose to clean his windshield, he tripped and ended up fracturing his shoulder in two places. Last Tuesday, Adam Rimmer, the preacher who filled in for me a couple of weeks ago, was walking up the steps into the chapel when the step caved in and his leg fell through. He ended up being very sore and carrying quite a bruise. I looked at it and the only words that came to mind were the words Opie Taylor said when he showed his pa a black eye he got while fighting a bully, “ain’t she a beaut?” Adam said, “It sure is a good thing I was holding on to the handrail.” Adam’s statement got me pondering. We never know when life is going to throw us a curveball. As Christian’s we had better keep hold of our handrail (that’s Jesus by the way) in order to keep our balance and stability. Here are some scriptures to remind us of this fact.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him…for evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
The Lord is my strength and my shield: my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5
Ah, Lord God! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:17
As you walk, walk with Jesus. He will get you safely home.
Be blessed and go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
