In the not-so-recent past, Dustin Benge posted something that really stuck with me and that I am trying to implement in my life every day. His post was very short and to the point, and I have expanded it some, but I wanted to be sure to give credit where credit is due. If you aren’t following Dustin, you are missing some great content. Anyway, here are seven things Christians should remember every day. First, God is our Father. As Christ followers, we have been adopted into the family of God, and the first chapter of Ephesians elaborates on the benefits of having God as our Father. Second, Christ is our Savior. We didn’t become part of God’s family as a result of anything we did but rather through the sacrificial atonement of the blood of Jesus. Third, Heaven is our home. It is easy to get bogged down with the things of this world and to dig our roots too deeply into the soil of this life. As the old hymn says, “This world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through,” so travel light. Fourth, the Scriptures are our guide. Far too many Christ followers look to the news, the internet and self-help books, and seminars to guide them through life. Remember, God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. God’s word is our only totally reliable guide. Fifth, every believer is family. We don’t live out our Christian life alone. We aren’t on an island. Lean on your brothers and sisters, and be a brother or sister your faith family can lean on. Sixth, the gospel is our message. First and foremost, our lives should be a witness of and a testimony to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, because as the Apostle Paul said, if Jesus isn’t raised, we are all in a heap of trouble! Finally, the goal of every Christ follower should be to bring glory and to give glory to God. Period. Everything we do or say should be done or said to God’s glory. If we live out these reminders every day, we will discover a much richer, fuller, and productive life in God’s kingdom.

Be blessed and then go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
