It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…with these famous words, Charles Dickens began his famous Tale of Two Cities. Many Christians today live in a “Tale of Two Cities” spiritual life. In one “city” we have Jesus, the church, religion, and everything that goes along with it. In our other “city”, we have secular lives, jobs, families, hobbies, recreation…anything that isn’t religious or spiritual. We work very hard at keeping these two “cities” separated. When asked, “Is Jesus first in your life” many respond, “Yes, He is. As a matter of fact, He is so important that I go to church every time the doors are opened”. This separation of our lives into compartments (religious compartment, family compartment, work compartment, etc.) is actually a tool that Satan uses to keep us from putting Christ where He rightfully belongs, and that is Lord of our lives. ALL of our lives. (See Colossians 1:13-17). Our spiritual life is important, but it is not a stand-alone compartment. Jesus should be the head of all areas of our lives. He should be the head of our church, our family, our job, and our recreation. Everything we do and everything we say should give glory to our Lord and Savior. For many of us, our lives are like waffles. Neat little compartments that are separated by tiny ridges. When we pour the syrup, we can keep it out of some of the compartments if that is our desire. Our lives should be more like a pancake where Jesus is the syrup that flows all over our lives. As I’ve said before, Jesus is either Lord of all, or He isn’t Lord at all. Let Jesus be Lord of your life. ALL areas of your life…for the rest of your life.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing . . . Bro. Andy
