Not “Why”. . . But “Who”

Sometimes things happen in life when we are left asking "Why?", from the death of a teenage driver to the prolonged lingering of an aged or sick person that would welcome death, and a whole lot of life in between. Sometimes it is personal. Other times affect a community, nation, and even the world. Unfortunately, the "whys' will continue as long as this world continues. I can't answer why. However, I do know this. The God I serve did not just say "That's another fine mess you humans have gotten yourself into". He didn't just wash his hands of everyone and everything. He didn't separate Himself from us with the attitude "I am God of the universe and you are not". He didn't say "If you live perfectly and fully grasp the meaning of life, you may enter paradise". He did not say "Live this life well and in your next life you can be a princess". He did something drastic. HE came down to become one of us. To share our hurts, pains, trials and temptations. That's what this season is all about. So, while we often ask the question "why", don't think that God doesn't care. He cared enough to come down here. He cared enough to live with us and among us for thirty-something years, and ultimately, He cared enough to die for us. Now THAT'S "Immanuel" (God with us). That is the ultimate difference between Christianity and all the other world religions. It's not about what we do, it's about what He has done. I might not know why, but I know Who...and that's enough.
Be blessed and then go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
