Best Laid Plans . . .

How many of us start the day with a plan, and then, before the sun gets very high in the sky, those plans change because something unexpected comes out of the woodwork? It happens to me a lot, and I’m willing to go out on a limb and say it happens to you, too. It also occurs in the news. Quite often, what starts as the lead news story at 6 AM is knocked off its perch and replaced before lunchtime by another story that is bigger, better, and juicier. This happens for several reasons, one of which is the fact that we humans don’t have control over nearly as much as we think we do. We wake up ready to jump all over our to-do list, and then we get a phone call from school telling us we need to come pick up Johnny and take him home because he is running a fever. Johnny didn’t mean to run a fever, and it's nobody’s fault, but in the battle of our to-do list versus the world, the world is up by a score. Or maybe you have an important meeting, the first thing this morning, and this is the morning you can’t find your car keys, and by the time you find them, you are late for your meeting. My friends, take heart. This same thing happens to every other human on the planet. Our schedules and plans are interrupted by the unplanned, unexpected, and often unwanted. That’s simply because sometimes, life gets in the way of our plans. Do you know whose plans are never interrupted? Listen to this verse, “O LORD, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them” Isaiah 25:1 NLT. Isaiah tells us that what God plans comes to pass, always and forever. That’s why we should always make our plans with the caveat, “if God wills.” I am so thankful I serve a God who knows all and sees all. I am thankful His plans never fail. This encourages me in our world of confusion, chaos, and commotion. In the middle of all of this, our God is on His throne, and His plans never fail.
Be blessed and be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
