Are You a Sunday Only Christian?

This is an “oldie but goodie” typed while watching a friend’s
construction crew build a ramp on my house on the Piney River.

As I look out my office window, I see several things that look kinda "off". Todd Prince's construction boys are building our ramp….while wearing light jackets….and shoveling snow. As they say in Tennessee, if you don't like the weather today, stay around for about a week and you will see so many different weather patterns, you are bound to like one of 'em. According to my new handy-dandy, indoor outdoor thermometer (Which I stole, I mean won, yeah that's it, won, playing a masterful round of "Dirty Santa" at my mom's Christmas dinner. But that's a whole other story). It is a balmy 54 degrees outside. You shouldn't see snow with it being 54 degrees outside. I will tell you another paradox. It starts with a joke. Two cars are stopped at a red light. A policeman pulls up behind the two cars. When the light turns green, the driver in the first car just sits there. This happens through two green/yellow/red cycles. The third time the light turns green, a man in the second car starts screaming, cursing, and swearing for the guy in the first car to move. The second driver even makes some "less than friendly" gestures with his finger. The policeman turns on his blue lights, walks up to the second driver and says "You are under arrest.” The driver replies, "What is the charge?" The officer says, "Car theft.” "Car theft? This is my car. I didn't steal it. Where is your evidence?" The officer said, "Well you have a fish on your bumper and a sticker that says "I Love Jesus" on your rear window and a Bible sitting in the back seat. With all that cussing and swearing, I just figured the car had to be stolen." When people look at us, can they tell we are Christians by the way we talk and act? When we post on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media outlets, do our posts show Jesus, or do they show who is really the master of our hearts…Satan? James, the brother of Jesus, addresses this paradox when he asks, "Can bitter water come from the same source as sweet water?" It's just plain wrong for there to be snow on the ground when it is 54 degrees outside. It is even more wrong for Christians to attend church on Sunday and look and sound like the world Monday through Saturday. Who is really our Lord? It bears pondering!
Have a blessed week . . . Bro. Andy
