Appreciate God’s Creation

March 10, 2024

The other night, I was driving home, and it struck me how beautiful the moon was. Granted, it was a clear night. and the moon was full, but it seemed to be extraordinarily bright and beautiful. I thanked God right at that moment for allowing me to slow down enough to enjoy the beauty of a full moon. I am working on my sixty-first trip around the sun, and I have seen the moon a lot in all those years. In fact, since I can’t count that high, my calculator tells me at sixty plus years of age, I have seen the moon over 21,900 times. Taking all the rainy, cloudy nights away, I have still observed the moon a bunch of times. In fact, my eye doctor once asked me how far away I could see and I answered him, “The moon is almost 240,000 miles away, so how’s that?” One of questions I pondered as I watched that beautiful moon is why it looked so beautiful and bright that night. Taking the weather conditions out of the equation, the only answer I could come up with is I slowed down and cleared my mind long enough to notice the beauty of that full moon. You could ask the same thing about a colorful sunrise or a spectacular sunset. Do we slow down enough to even see it, much less appreciate, and thank God for the opportunity to worship Him through His wonderful creation? I wonder how often God tries to get our attention, but we are too busy talking, working, driving, and playing on our phone to even realize it. God is kinda like the guy on the old Verizon commercials, trying to get our attention and asking, “Can you hear me now?” Let’s slow down long enough to see and appreciate all the beauty that is surrounding us and then, let’s take the time to thank the one who created it and gave us eyes to see, ears to hear, and minds to appreciate all of God’s creation.

Be grateful, be blessed, and then go be a blessing . . . Bro. Andy
